Poecilotheria metallica is also known as the Gooty sapphire ornamental. This extraordinary species from India is known for its bright blue, yellow and white coloring. Due to its remarkable color and difficulty to breed in captivity, this rare species is often referred to as the "Holy Grail" of tarantulas. Poecilotheria are recommended for intermediate and experienced tarantula keepers due to their speed and potent bite however, they are rarely defensive and in most cases would rather flee.

Pictured is an adult female. Aside from lightening this darker photo, a crop and watermark this picture has not been edited. Correct lighting really brings out their remarkable structural blue color!
