Formerly known as Grammostola aureostriata, Grammostola pulchripes or the Chaco golden knee tarantula. Adults are Dark in appearance with pink "hairs" and yellow striping on their knees. I have known specimens to reach 7-8”! Known for being more docile than most species of tarantula, they is not surprise they are one of the most popular beginner species!
Recommended enclosure: A 4x4x6" Terrestrial Kit w/Magnetic Lock or 4x4x5” Terrestrial w/Classic Porthole. Either would make a great enclosure for this specimen for now! Keep in mind, in a molten or two this specimen will be large enough for a 7x7x11” Terrestrial Enclosure Kit or 8x8x14" Terrestrial Enclosure Kit.
Currently feeding on: Medium B. lateralis.

The buying experience started out really well — Jamie was friendly, responsive, and clearly cared about getting the shipment right. We coordinated carefully around weather windows before she sent from California to Ohio, which I appreciated.
Unfortunately, when the package arrived, both spiders — a Chaco Golden Knee and the Chiricahuan Gray that came as a bonus — showed no movement. Given that they were cold and damp from transit, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, warmed them up, and let them rest overnight to recover from shipping stress. By morning, it was clear both had not made it.
I emailed Jamie with photos and a description of what I found, genuinely just asking for her thoughts. I never received a response. That silence is what dropped this review to two stars.
I understand DOA policies with live animals are strict — and I'll own the fact that I didn't report within the one-hour window. That's a lesson I've now learned the hard way. But when two animals arrive deceased and a buyer reaches out with documentation and a reasonable question, some kind of response matters — especially when $200 is on the line and the animals were intended for educational use with kids.
I don't think Jamie is a bad person or a bad seller. The pre-shipment experience genuinely suggested otherwise. But the lack of follow-through after the loss was disappointing, and I'd encourage anyone purchasing live animals to be very clear on DOA terms before buying — and to inspect immediately upon delivery, no matter how uncertain the signs may seem.
I was shocked how she was packed, packed in moist paper towel completely in a tiny little plastic salad dressing like container from a take out. Yet she moved right out onto my hand and then immediately began to look for a burrow after two days of inspecting her new home. She’s now dig into her burrow complete with web traps. Easy to handle, and when she comes out of her burrow, appears to enjoy being handled. Looks like Jamie knows what he’s doing!
